Thamizhachi Thangapandian Video Viral: She Would Like to Invite LTTE Prabhakaran For Dinner

Thamizhachi Thangapandian Video Viral

State Congress group members expressed their displeasure on Monday with Thamizhachi Thangapandian of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) member Thamizhachi Thangapandian’s recent praise of Freedom Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader V Prabhakaran, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Thamizhachi Thangapandian was recently interviewed by The Federal’s information site, which caused controversy on social media. When asked who they would like to invite for dinner and which questions they wanted asked of them, Thamizhachi Thangapandian answered with Thalaivar Prabhakaran from Tamil Nadu; she claimed she would ask forgiveness from him and beg his pardon for Mullivaikal’s misfortune if that were possible, though HT did not verify its authenticity separately.

As soon as the Sri Lankan military defeated the LTTE and ended a bloody three-decade fight on the island in May 2009, thousands of Tamil civilians in Mullivaikal town in northern Sri Lanka were slaughtered.

Velupillai Prabhakaran established the LTTE in May 1976 under his leadership, leading their fight for an independent nation for Tamils from Sri Lanka. They used genuine issues of language discrimination as well as political disenfranchisement to mobilize support against anti-Tamil sentiment within the Sinhalese Buddhist majority to pursue this cause, and they adopted terror tactics and physical violence as means to achieve it. They ultimately used terror tactics as well as physical violence as means to accomplish their aim.

On May 21, 1991, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in Chennai’s Sriperumbudur by an assassin from the LTTE named Dhanu/Thenmozhi Rajarathinam in an attack carried out to get revenge against Gandhi’s decision to send in Indian Peacekeeping Force (IPKF) interference between 1987 and 1990. Sixteen people, including Dhanu/Thenmozhi Rajarathinam himself, were killed, while about 45 were wounded as a result. The assassination attempt took place as revenge for Gandhi sending IPKF forces into the Sriperumbudur area by Dhanu/Thenmozhi Rajarathinam, who were all killed or injured because LTTE officials blamed them for this action between 1987 and 1990.

Prabakaran’s death and cover-up, however, should not be forgotten about. According to Congress MLA Karti Chidambaram’s post about him on Monday morning, “To ignore or cover up for Rajiv Gandhi and 17 Tamils was inappropriate. Therefore, Prabhakaran Veerappan Tamil Nationalism can only be described as extreme Hindutva Nationalism.”

State Congress functioning head of state Mohan Kumaramangalam pointed to a UN record about the Mullivaikal incident, in which it stated that the LTTE did not surrender and was willing to sacrifice civilian lives for its cause. When Kumaramangalam heard this information, he expressed surprise: a member of the Indian Parliament has said such things. “Why haven’t you apologized?” he asked. “I find your words astonishing.”

On a number of occasions, members of the Gandhi family have stated they had forgiven Rajiv Gandhi of his crimes; however, this has yet to happen as Congress party leaders at both national and state levels have repeatedly objected to the release of seven convicts who were released from prison in November.

Karti’s advice to Tamil Hindutva nationalists was described by the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party as being arrogant and misguided, according to Narayanan Thirupathy, state vice president. If “you worry,” Congress or its alliance partner DMK could leave immediately or lose support, according to state vice president of the BJP Narayanan Thirupathy.
