On a Saturday in Los Angeles, Actor Matthew Perry was found unresponsive in his home’s hot tub, as reported by the police. Determining the cause of his death might take several weeks or even months, experts have cautioned.
The Los Angeles Police Department stated that Perry was discovered in the hot tub around 4 p.m. on Saturday. Despite efforts from the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Perry was declared dead at the scene. He was 54 years old.
Due to Perry’s fame, detectives from the robbery homicide division initiated a preliminary investigation. Although there were no apparent signs of harm, Perry’s official cause of death awaits the coroner’s examination, as the police statement indicated. There is currently no evidence of foul play, as the authorities have stated.
On Monday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s website mentioned that Perry’s cause of death was “deferred,” indicating further investigation was necessary. However, Perry’s case was not listed on the website later in the day.
The department revealed that the investigation was ongoing and might require weeks or months for a comprehensive analysis, including toxicology screening and other evidence examinations.
Perry had openly discussed his battles with addiction, leading to multiple hospitalizations for various health issues. In his 2022 memoir, he detailed his struggles, including pneumonia, an exploded colon, and several stomach surgeries, shedding light on the challenges he faced over the years.
